In my final update on my kitchen renovation, I documented the demolition of the out-of-date and significantly dirty kitchen in my new place. Pulling out these old cabinets made it look higher than I had seen it – but a kitchen with out cabinets, appliances and counter tops is not that much use in the long run and I wanted to get the new stuff in there!

Our reno did turn out effectively and I nonetheless love the format of my kitchen. We opted for total customized wood cabinets built by a master carpenter so we received everything we needed with out having to make it match the scale so each nook and cranny was used. Completely believe in drawers vs. cabinets and make sure the realm over the fridge actually comes forward sufficient so you possibly can attain it with no step stool. I store all my baking sheets and occasion ware there. So useful!

I have maple cabinets, a formica countertop and all my home equipment are white on white, that are normal floor fashions. WE painted the walls with a sunny yellow and gave it an Italian, Tuscan really feel. I did substitute the linoleum flooring with bamboo flooring (For $750) which made the room look higher. I also prolonged the flooring into the adjoining lounge for another $750 and only updated that room with a brown leather-based chair.

The ensuite was made a bit smaller to accommodate the closet location and thus the final plan would not have a water closet or walk-in closets but they have been compromises Lindsay and her husband were pleased with. The closet house was nice (deeper than the outdated closets) and the brand new ensuite was still spacious and vivid with a big window, a new skylite, fascinating sloping ceiling and some constructed-in shelving.

My husband and I each like blue, and wanted it to be a part of the color scheme. Nevertheless, blue is a cool color that can be depressing if overdone, so I planned to make use of it for accents solely. The most important walls and partitions across the windows can be gentle yellow. Cabinets and woodwork could be brilliant white. Blue was reserved for the backsplash areas and the cornice over the cabinets. At the end of the project, I made a decision to paint the island blue, too, as I thought the white would get scuffed up too simply.
